5. Pseudo-Actives

Certain ingredients may contribute indirectly to UV protection without officially being recognized as sunscreen actives. Their role continues to be an area of ongoing scientific and regulatory discussion as sunscreen formulations become increasingly sophisticated.

Why Do SPF Boosters Matter?

Developing sunscreens with higher SPF values while maintaining a lightweight, elegant texture is one of the biggest challenges for cosmetic formulators.

SPF boosters allow manufacturers to improve sunscreen performance without simply adding larger amounts of UV filters, which can sometimes make products feel heavier, leave more residue, or become more difficult to formulate.
