Lips are one of the most requested areas in our practice, and also one of the easiest to overdo. Belotero Intense is a newly FDA-approved filler built specifically for lip augmentation, designed to add definition and fullness while preserving the natural softness and movement of the lip. Dr. Jane Yoo will be offering it as part of the expanded Belotero® portfolio at our practice.
What Belotero Intense Is Used For
Belotero Intense is FDA-approved for submucosal and/or subcutaneous implantation for lip augmentation in adults over the age of 21.
Why It’s Different: Biomimetic CPM Technology
Like the rest of the Belotero® line, Belotero Intense is made with Cohesive Polydensified Matrix (CPM®) gel, a hyaluronic acid technology that blends higher- and lower-density zones within a single product. That structure lets the filler integrate into the lip’s soft, mobile tissue rather than sitting on top of it, so the lip can still move, smile, and speak naturally after treatment. It’s designed for definition and hydration-driven fullness rather than the stiff, “filled” look that can come with the wrong product in the wrong area.
What to Expect
Consultation: Dr. Yoo assesses your natural lip shape, proportions, and goals — whether that’s simply hydrating and smoothing fine lines, restoring lost volume, or subtly enhancing your natural lip line, before recommending a treatment plan.
Treatment: Belotero Intense is placed just under the surface of the lip tissue. Most treatments take well under an hour.
Recovery: Temporary swelling, tenderness, or bruising is common after any lip filler treatment and typically improves within a few days. Lips can swell asymmetrically at first; this settles as swelling resolves.
Results: In clinical studies submitted to the FDA, patients treated with Belotero Intense reported high satisfaction with their results at 8 weeks, with volume maintained for up to a year following treatment.

Belotero Intense is intended for use by a licensed, trained healthcare provider. As with all HA dermal fillers, it should not be used in patients with bleeding disorders, a history of anaphylaxis or multiple severe allergies, or a known hypersensitivity to lidocaine or amide-type anesthetics. Injection into blood vessels can, in rare cases, lead to vascular occlusion, tissue damage, or vision changes. Common side effects include temporary swelling, redness, tenderness, firmness, lumps, and bruising at the injection site.
