Effective date: July 25, 2026
Jane Yoo MD, PLLC (“we,” “our”) operates janeyoomd.com and The Sunscreen Index. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and what choices you have.
This site is not a medical service
Nothing on this website, including The Sunscreen Index, is medical advice, and using it does not create a physician–patient relationship. Please do not send personal health information through the forms on this site. They are not secure medical channels and are not covered by HIPAA. If you are a patient of the practice and need to discuss your care, please contact the office directly.
Information you give us
If you use a contact or suggestion form, we receive what you type — typically your name, email address, and message. We use it only to respond to you and, where relevant, to improve The Sunscreen Index. Form submissions are processed by WPForms and Contact Form 7 and stored on our website host. Submissions are screened for spam by Akismet and SilentShield, which means the content of a submission is transmitted to those services for that purpose.
Mailing list
If you check the box asking to receive updates, we add your email address to our mailing list, which is managed by Constant Contact. Consent is optional and separate — submitting a form does not subscribe you to anything. Every email we send includes an unsubscribe link, and you may unsubscribe at any time.
Analytics and cookies
We use Google Analytics (via MonsterInsights) and Jetpack to understand how visitors use janeyoomd.com — which pages are read, how visitors arrive, and general location and device information. These services set cookies and may collect an identifier associated with your browser. Most browsers let you block or delete cookies in their settings, and Google offers an opt-out at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
The Sunscreen Index tool itself uses Vercel Web Analytics, which is cookieless and reports only aggregate figures — page views, referring sites, country, and device type. It does not identify individual visitors and does not track you across other websites.
Saved favorites in The Sunscreen Index
When you save a sunscreen to your list, that list is stored in your own browser on your own device. It is never transmitted to us and we cannot see it. Clearing your browser data removes it.
Accessibility widget
We use UserWay to provide accessibility features. UserWay may store a preference for your chosen accessibility settings.
Server logs
Our hosting providers record routine technical data such as IP address, browser type, and time of request, for security and reliability.
What we do not do
- We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information.
- We do not run advertising networks or retargeting pixels on this site.
- We do not add anyone to a mailing list without their explicit consent.
- We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Affiliate links
Some “Find” links in The Sunscreen Index are affiliate links, meaning we may earn a small commission if you purchase through them, at no additional cost to you. Affiliate relationships never influence which products are included in the index or how they are rated. Retailers you visit through these links have their own privacy policies, which govern what they collect.
Service providers
We share information only with the providers needed to operate this site: Bluehost (website hosting), Vercel (hosting and analytics for The Sunscreen Index), Constant Contact (email list), WPForms and Contact Form 7 (form submissions), Google Analytics and Jetpack (usage analytics), and Akismet and SilentShield (spam filtering). Each processes data on our behalf under its own terms. We may also disclose information where required by law.
How long we keep it
We keep form submissions as long as needed to respond and to maintain a record of product suggestions. Mailing list data is kept until you unsubscribe. Analytics data is aggregate and retained by each provider according to its standard retention period.
Your choices and rights
You may ask what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or unsubscribe from emails at any time. Depending on where you live — for example the European Union, the United Kingdom, or California — you may have additional statutory rights, including rights to access, delete, or restrict processing of your information, and the right not to be treated differently for exercising them. To make a request, email us at info@janeyoomd.com.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we will update the effective date above and post the revised version on this page.
