Liztox by Huons Biopharma: High-Purity Korean Botulinum Toxin Type A

A New Generation Korean Neurotoxin with 99.8% Purity

Liztox is a botulinum toxin type A product developed by Huons Biopharma, a subsidiary of Huons Global Co., Ltd., one of South Korea’s largest pharmaceutical companies. Approved by the Korean Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) and developed through Huons Biopharma’s proprietary BioPure Extraction Process, Liztox has established itself as one of the newer Korean neurotoxins gaining recognition in international aesthetic markets.

Liztox is produced at Huons Biopharma’s K-GMP certified facility in Pangyo, South Korea, and is exported internationally under the name Hutox. It achieves a purity level of 99.8%, which is among the highest documented purity standards in the Korean botulinum toxin market, and reflects Huons Biopharma’s focus on minimizing immunogenic risk through rigorous purification.

What Liztox Is

Liztox is a freeze-dried botulinum toxin type A formulation containing 100 units of clostridium botulinum toxin, human serum albumin, and sodium chloride per vial. It is reconstituted with sterile preservative-free saline before injection.

Like other botulinum toxin type A products, Liztox works by blocking acetylcholine release at the neuromuscular junction, preventing muscle contraction in the treated area and relaxing the dynamic wrinkles and expression lines that repeated muscle movement produces. Results typically begin within 3 to 7 days of injection and can last 6 to 9 months, with some reports indicating a slightly longer duration compared to some competing formulations.

High Purity and Its Clinical Significance

The 99.8% purity achieved through the BioPure Extraction Process is one of Liztox’s primary clinical talking points.

Botulinum toxin formulations contain both the active neurotoxin protein and non-toxic accessory proteins. These accessory proteins, while not directly responsible for the toxin’s effect, can theoretically contribute to immune system recognition and antibody formation over time. A higher purity product with fewer accessory proteins may reduce the likelihood of a patient developing neutralizing antibodies, which can diminish the effectiveness of repeated treatments.

For patients who receive neurotoxin treatments regularly, this consideration is clinically relevant, and Huons Biopharma’s investment in achieving high purity through its BioPure process reflects awareness of this dynamic in the aesthetic medicine market.

Common Aesthetic Applications

Liztox is indicated for the correction and preventive care of dynamic facial wrinkles. Common treatment areas include glabellar lines (frown lines between the brows), forehead lines, crow’s feet, and perioral wrinkles. It is also used for hyperhidrosis treatment via injection at perspiratory gland locations including the palms, axillae, and soles.

Korean practitioners have also used Liztox for jaw slimming (masseter reduction) and other body contouring applications consistent with broader Korean aesthetic practice.

Safety and Regulatory Status

Liztox holds MFDS approval in South Korea and has received regulatory clearance in multiple international markets. It is a prescription product manufactured under strict K-GMP standards.

As with all botulinum toxin products, Liztox should only be administered by a licensed and trained medical professional. Proper assessment of patient anatomy, treatment goals, and medical history is essential before any neurotoxin treatment.
